Going to the gym may provide you a lot of benefits, beginning with getting professional training. The costs of health club memberships vary from one gym to another, but usually they offer discounts when you apply for a multiple months’ worth of membership. For example, a gym offers $25 per month, you may get one month free when you pay for a whole year’s membership fee. So that would be $275 per month. For one whole year you will enjoy professional fitness training brought by trainers themselves, regular use of equipment, and some freebies as well. However, these perks will only be available depending on your schedule to the gym, which is takes about 3-4 hours a day, 3-4 days a week.

Meanwhile, if you decide to do your workouts at home, you would need two things: space and equipment. If you do have the space, then you would have to shop for equipment. You can start with purchasing a cardio machine and a weight training machine. There are versatile types of weight training machines available in the market, and they should be the ones you should get in order to do a lot of routines. On an average, you would have to spend $200-300 per equipment, so that would range around $400-600 for both machines.

Perhaps you would want to continue your membership at the gym for a couple of years more. Given the discount, you would have to spend another $500 for two years’ worth of membership, so including your current year, that would then range roughly around $750 for three years. Once your membership has lapsed, you would have to apply for a new one again.

During your home training on the other hand, you may think of investing for new equipment each year, so that would be another $500. In the span of three years, you would have spent around $1500 for all the machines you will be using.

When you are a member of a health club, of course you will also spend some cash for transportation. If you then work out for 50 weeks (per year) and use $2 worth of gas, that would then be another $150, and for three years you would have spent as much as $450 on gas alone.

With these costs laid down on you, you can see that it is more beneficial to pursue home training, especially when all you are after for is maintaining your figure. By knowing how to do the routines correctly, you can then build more muscle at home than when you’re in the gym, not to mention that you get to own the equipment. However, when you feel like you’re the type who wants to socialize with other gym members and wants to spend time with the fitness experts, then hitting the gym is still the way to go.
