As mentioned in our previous article about health, fitness and advertising, we eat what we see and hear. While we easily get enticed with the advertising deals of those unhealthy but really yummy foods, we are also left in fear that the “healthy” foods are no longer healthy thanks to experimental culture, pollution and other risky deals as said in the news. But what exactly is the truth behind the word of mouth?

1. Fish. Fish is probably the healthiest form of meat, as it is low in fat and calories but high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. However, because of its natural habitat, fish meals are in great need of better PR to get them back to the market. But here’s what you need to learn about eating fish.

“You shouldn’t give up fish,” says Tim Fitzgerald, researcher with Environmental Defense. Fish remains to be the best source of animal protein as it has heart protective omega-3 fats and they are worth eating than the best meat dishes around. Fish not only protects the heart but keeps the tummy full, happy and satisfied. Indeed there’s news about fish getting contaminated with mercury thanks to pollution in the sea. But those who are at great risk to fish issues are pregnant women and young children. If you don’t fall on these categories then you can feed on fish regularly but on a scheduled basis-just don’t overeat.

2. Eggs. Eggs are the most versatile dish, as they can be cooked in various forms. They are also rich in essential amino acids such as lutein, zeaxanthin and carotenoids which keep the body’s immune system up and going, and the sense clean and clear. Yes, eggs contain cholesterol. But that doesn’t mean they are no longer healthy. In a recent study involving the effects of eggs on its eaters, it has shown that eating as much as three eggs a day doesn’t increase the risk of heart disease among its consumers-and that the good cholesterol found in eggs rises in proportion to the dreaded bad cholesterol. What plagues eggs is how they are cooked- frying them in the traditional sunny-side up manner with matching bacon can really add up to the fat and cholesterol, not to mention the greater risk to heart disease. Now that’s what you have to reduce.
